Junior Sous Chef

A renowned property located in the Foreshore area of Cape Town is seeking a talented Junior Sous Chef to join its culinary team. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist the Sous Chef and Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen Supervise junior staff during preparation and service to ensure quality and consistency Prepare and present dishes according to set recipes, portion sizes, and standards Oversee specific sections of the kitchen, ensuring smooth operation during service Assist with menu development and contribute creative ideas for seasonal updates Ensure all kitchen areas meet hygiene, health, and safety regulations Monitor stock levels, record wastage, and assist with ordering supplies Train and mentor commis chefs and other junior team members Ensure equipment is maintained in proper working condition and report faults Support the kitchen team during busy service periods to deliver an exceptional dining experience Requirements: Previous experience as Junior Sous Chef in a reputable kitchen Formal culinary qualification preferred Knowledge of food safety, HACCP standards, and kitchen hygiene practices Ability to work well under pressure and within a team Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Passion for food and continuous learning To apply, please upload a copy of your updated CV and recent profile photo along with any written or telephonic reference.
