He loves bouncing on his trampoline, climbing trees, playing with sand and playing in the rain! He is interested in numbers and letters and enjoys jigsaw puzzles when he's in the mood. He also loves playgrounds, swimming and looks forward to trips to Costa for a biscuit and Zizzi for a pizza. He has been diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Global Development Delay, and is non-verbal. He uses an iPad-based AAC communication device, which he has been learning to navigate and will need continued support to develop his skills further. Ben can feel overwhelmed when people are constantly in his space and talking, or when there is too much engagement in activities. At times, he experiences periods of dysregulation, during which he may bang his head against the wall or bite his wrists as a way of expressing overstimulation. Providing a calm and structured environment helps him feel more at ease. Ben requires assistance with all aspects of his personal care, including toileting, bathing, dressing, brushing his teeth, and encouragement to eat. Overview of role: This role requires a dedicated SEN Nanny/Manny to support his ongoing learning and development. This is a great opportunity to build trust with Ben, starting by shadowing his parents. Ben requires close supervision, as he may attempt to climb fences or run off in parks. He also enjoys sensory feedback from smashing glasses/mugs, so these items must be kept out of reach. The role includes school pick-ups, outdoor play, and visits to SEN-friendly soft play during term time, with more activities like swimming and outings during holidays. The family seeks a long-term commitment for consistency in Ben’s development. In the future, the Nanny/Manny may also provide occasional proxy parenting and babysitting and join the family on an annual UK holiday. The family can offer a live-in option, if candidates prefer. Who this job would suit: The successful applicant will be calm, confident, and have a good sense of humour. You’ll be energetic, physically fit, and enjoy taking part in activities such as bouncing on the trampoline with Ben. With a compassionate and proactive approach, you’ll support Ben through periods of dysregulation effectively and sensitively, giving Ben his space when needed. This role will suit someone seeking a long-term commitment with the family. What’s great about this job: Ben and his family will be a pleasure to work with. They are approachable and highly value teamwork, creating a supportive and fulfilling work environment. Additionally, training will be provided by Ben's speech therapist to assist in using his AAC device. Who is recruiting for this role?
