Job Description

Job Title: Medical Assistant Profession: Certified Medical Assistant Specialty: Clinic Duration: Full-time Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Previous experience in a clinical setting required License: Current BLS Certification required Certifications: Medical Assistant program accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting organization required Must-Have: - Knowledge of and skill in using computer software applications - Ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently - Willingness to take x-ray operator examination if required by the clinic Description: The Medical Assistant will manage customer flow throughout the clinic. The role involves assisting providers in the management and treatment of customers from various backgrounds and age groups. Individualized care is essential, focusing on collaboration and support, as per the designated scope of practice. The Medical Assistant will receive direction from the supervising nurse and providers to meet defined goals. Effective communication with the healthcare team regarding progress, concerns, and issues is essential. Clinical Care: The Medical Assistant will perform clinical and clerical tasks. Responsibilities include standard rooming processes, administering immunizations, injections, and medications as directed by the provider, and performing laboratory specimen collection when needed. Depending on the specialty and clinic location, the Medical Assistant may provide telephone support. Facilitation of communication between customers and providers, assistance with prescription refills, and performance of clinic laboratory tests may also be required. Clinic Support: The Medical Assistant may provide front desk and check-in support. Tasks include ordering and stocking supplies and assisting with prior authorizations. Additional Responsibilities: The team member must demonstrate proficiency in skills outlined in the Medical Assistant scope of practice. Continuous skill proficiency maintenance and improvement in new skills are required. Other duties may be assigned to support organizational goals. The Medical Assistant takes direction from physicians, providers, and supervisors. Compliance: Understanding and following principles and standards related to legal, regulatory, and procedural requirements is essential. The Medical Assistant is responsible for protecting customer and team member privacy. Reporting violations or concerns through established communication methods is necessary.
