Chef (Private Care Home) Location: Hull Contract Type: Permanent - Part time Hours: 3 Days a week - 09:30 to 17:30 Pay Rate: £13.00 - £14.00 Reporting to: Head Chef / Home Manager About the Role We are seeking an experienced Chefs to join our catering team in a private residential care home, providing high-quality, nutritious meals for our residents. This role involves maintaining high standards of food preparation, safety, and presentation while ensuring that all dietary needs and preferences are met. You'll be stepping into an established kitchen team and helping ensure meal service continues smoothly and professionally. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook balanced, nutritious meals for residents according to set menus and dietary requirements. Cater to individual dietary needs (including allergies, modified textures, cultural, and medical diets). Maintain excellent food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness at all times. Ensure compliance with HACCP, Food Safety, and Health & Safety regulations. Work collaboratively with kitchen assistants and care staff to ensure a smooth meal service. Manage stock rotation, storage, and kitchen organisation. Assist with menu planning when required. Follow all care home policies and procedures.Essential Requirements Proven experience as a Chef within a care, healthcare, or similar environment. Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or higher). Understanding of special diets and texture-modified foods. Strong knowledge of food safety standards. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Flexibility to cover various shifts, sometimes at short notice. Right to work in the UK. NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent qualification. Experience working with older adults or in care settings. DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check (or willingness to obtain one).Personal Attributes Compassionate and respectful attitude toward residents. Reliable, punctual, and professional. Team player with good communication skills. Calm under pressure with a positive attitude.
