Job Description

Job Title: MRI Technologist Outpatient Profession: Radiology Specialty: MRI Tech Duration: Permanent Shift: Mon and Wed 11a-7p, and Sat-Sun 8a-4p Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Must graduate from an accredited radiography school or hospital-based program License: Certification by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) Certifications: BLS certification; IV certification preferred Must-Have: ARRT certification Description: Performs routine and some special procedure imaging. Prepares patients for procedures. Assists radiologists when needed. Prepares, operates, and cares for the equipment being used. Adheres to established standards of care. Pursues appropriate continuing education. Assumes responsibility for assigned area and duties. Adheres to established customer service programs. Performs other duties as assigned, such as quality assurance. Exercises professional judgment in performance of procedures. Provides patient care. Understands and adheres to performance standards, policies, and behaviors. Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations. Observes different and special requirements for each protocol. Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures. Produces good technical images, reviewing completed scans for quality and completeness. Assists physicians during procedures as necessary. Performs quality assurance and calibrations as needed. Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or special situations. Maintains the cleanliness of all areas, equipment, and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor. Prints patient CDs if needed. Performs routine office tasks, such as answering phones and checking-in patients. Notifies front desk staff upon exam completion. Shows radiologist images to attending physician and documents communication as necessary. May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor. Introduces themselves to patients or family members regarding the examination. Should be knowledgeable in providing care based on age and physical and psychosocial stature. Attends staff meetings and in-services. Coverage rotation to other offsite practices may be required. Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the practices. May be required to work holidays, overtime, and/or various shifts to maintain adequate coverage. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Position is eligible for certification incentive.
