School Cook

Location: Leyland Hours: 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm Pay: £17.50 per hour About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated School Cook to join an SEN (Special Educational Needs) school based in Leyland. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, cooking, and serving of nutritious meals for pupils with a wide range of needs, ensuring dietary requirements, allergies and specialist menus are met to a high standard. Responsibilities: Plan, prepare and cook balanced meals daily for pupils and staff Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen environment at all times Support with menu planning in line with dietary needs, healthy eating guidelines and allergen requirements Receive deliveries, stock rotation and food storage management Ensure portion control and avoid unnecessary waste Work collaboratively with school staff and support team to meet pupil needs Adhere to all food safety, hygiene & safeguarding regulations Requirements: Experience working in a school kitchen or care/healthcare setting (essential) Level 2 or above Food Hygiene & Safety certificate (essential) Knowledge of allergies, dietary requirements & safe handling of food Must hold a DBS or be willing to complete one prior to start Ability to work independently and manage a busy kitchen environment Understanding of the needs within an SEN environment (advantageous, but training can be provided) What we offer: Monday - Friday, term-time schedule (no evenings or weekends) Supportive SEN school environment Competitive hourly rate
