To further complement our current Adult Education Programme we are looking for tutors in Jewellery, Mosaic, Music, Woodwork, Cookery, Upcycling, Crafts, Pilates and History. The City of Edinburgh Council is committed to recruiting people who will deliver high quality public services to our diverse communities across the city. There is a particular need to recruit staff to support programmes in the outskirts of Edinburgh such as South Queensferry, Ratho and Currie. As an equal opportunity employer, we recognise and value the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings. We are committed to building an inclusive recruitment culture where all people feel valued, included and able to be at their best. We would like to encourage conversations with people who have not previously thought about employment within a Local Authority. We warmly invite people to take this opportunity to demonstrate their ability regardless of age, disability, sex, gender, race, marital status, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs. Candidates must have a high level of expertise in their chosen field and an in-depth knowledge of the subject they wish to offer. Prior teaching experience is an advantage. Experience of teaching and relevant qualifications in the subject matter are desirable. Applicants must be available to deliver community-based provision at times to suit learner needs, which may include daytime, evening or weekend classes. These posts are for casual tertiary staff. Learning classes/activity can be delivered morning, afternoon, evening or weekends and are typically 2 hours in duration. These are offered by working arrangements that are approximately 25 weeks per year. We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation. As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we're bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work. To help achieve this, we're changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.
