Mechanical Fitter

We are currently recruiting experienced Mechanical Fitters for a major National Grid substation project. This is a stay-away role, with accommodation costs covered. You will be working on the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of mechanical systems within a high-voltage substation environment. Key Duties: * Installation and assembly of mechanical plant and equipment * Working from engineering drawings and method statements * Supporting shutdowns, isolations, and commissioning phases * Adhering to strict National Grid safety and quality procedures * Collaborating with site teams and other trades on site Requirements: * National Grid Person & BESC (in date) – Mandatory * NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Fitting / Engineering * CSCS or equivalent H&S card * Previous experience on substations or HV infrastructure * Comfortable working away from home (accommodation provided) Desirable: * Manual Handling, First Aid, or Confined Space tickets * Experience with valves, pumps, and pipework in an HV setting * MEWP/IPAF or Telehandler ticket What’s on Offer: * Long-term project work on secure National Grid infrastructure * Lodge allowance or digs provided * Competitive rates paid weekly * Opportunity to work with a leading contractor in the energy/utilities sector
