PICU RN Job Details – Charleston, SC Location: Charleston, SC 29401 (South Carolina healthcare jobs) Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680–$1800 Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 11/3/2025 – End: 2/2/2026) Setting: Pediatric ICU Float Pool (may float to CVPICU, NICU, PICU) Shifts: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:30), 36 hours/week Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holiday rotation required Patient Ratios: 1:2 or 1:3 Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks Pediatric ICU RN Qualifications Minimum 2 years of recent Pediatric ICU (PICU) nursing experience required Active South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact Registered Nurse License (must be active prior to start) BLS and PALS certifications (American Heart Association only) Experience with ECMO and CRRT preferred Proficiency in pediatric critical care nursing skills: ventilator management, central/PICC line care, IV vasopressors, pediatric dosage calculations Ability to float to all pediatric units as needed (CVPICU, NICU, PICU) Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered) First-time travel nurses accepted if all experience requirements are met PICU RN Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, family-centered care to critically ill pediatric patients in a float pool setting Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans Monitor and manage patients requiring advanced therapies (ECMO, CRRT, mechanical ventilation) Administer medications, manage sedation, and interpret lab and diagnostic results Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies and patient safety standards Participate in emergency response teams as needed, especially during hurricane season (June–November) Float between pediatric critical care units based on facility needs Why Choose Charleston, SC for Your Next Travel Nursing Job?
