R&D Industrial Placement – 12-Month Opportunity (Newcastle, July 2026 Start) Our client, a global leader in consumer goods innovation, is seeking talented and motivated postgraduate scientists to join their Research & Development (R&D) team for a 12-month industrial placement starting in July 2026 . This is an exceptional opportunity for MSc students who are eager to apply their scientific expertise to the creation and improvement of household products used by millions every day. About the Company and Location The placement is based at the client’s Innovation Centre in Newcastle , a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to advancing research in Fabric and Home Care products . The site plays a central role in product design and technology development, driving innovations that shape some of the world’s best-known consumer brands. The centre is easily accessible—approximately 15 minutes from the city centre and the North East coastline—with nearby public transport links and free on-site parking. The Role This is a hands-on role within the company’s Research & Development function , offering exposure to real-world projects and cutting-edge technology. Placement students will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the development of new product formulations, testing methods, and process improvements that enhance consumer experiences globally. From day one, interns are given meaningful responsibilities and the autonomy to manage their own projects. Each participant follows a tailored learning plan, ensuring access to coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities throughout the year. Who Should Apply Applications are welcomed from MSc students pursuing degrees in scientific or engineering disciplines who will graduate in 2028 and have a placement year included in their course. Candidates graduating in 2026 or 2027 , or recent graduates available for a 12-month placement, are also encouraged to apply. Ideal applicants will demonstrate: Strong academic achievement and enthusiasm for scientific research. Evidence of leadership ability and initiative, either within academic projects or extracurricular activities. Excellent communication skills and an eagerness to innovate. The legal right to work in the UK for the duration of the placement (1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027) without employer sponsorship.
