PCU Registered Nurse Job Details Location: Roanoke, VA (24014) – Virginia nursing jobs Healthcare Setting: Telemetry PCU – Stroke/Neuroscience Unit Assignment Length: 13 weeks (locum tenens/travel nurse contract) Start Date: October 27, 2025 End Date: January 26, 2026 Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (18:45 – 07:15) Hours per Week: 36 Estimated Weekly Pay: $1910 - $1960 per week Patient Ratio: 1:5 Weekend Coverage: Required (6 weekend shifts per 6-week block) Charting System: Epic EMR PCU Nurse Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – eligible for Virginia healthcare jobs Minimum 1 year of recent PCU/Stepdown nursing experience BLS and ACLS certifications required NIHSS certification preferred Proficiency with Epic charting system Experience in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response/code teams, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, cardiac drips (no titration), and non-invasive airway management Ability to float to other PCU or medical-surgical units as needed COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered) PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a telemetry PCU setting Monitor and manage patients with stroke, neurological, and general medical conditions Interpret and manage cardiac rhythms; respond to rapid response/code situations Administer blood products and manage cardiac drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine) Care for patients with chest tubes, tracheostomies, PICC lines, and various oxygen modalities (CPAP, BiPAP, nasal cannula, face masks) Maintain strict isolation precautions and infection control standards Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services Float to other nursing units within the hospital as required Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR Apply now to join our Roanoke, Virginia healthcare team as a PCU Registered Nurse and make a difference in patient care!
