Job title: ACADEMY TEACHER (ENGLISH) Employer: Cardiff City Football Club Location: Cardiff City Academy, Cardiff City Stadium, Leckwith Stadium, The Vale Resort Contract: Fixed Term (Part time) Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience Hours of Work: Tuesdays (8:30am- 4:30pm) Department: Academy Reporting to: Academy Manager, Head of Education Job Purpose We are pleased to offer the position of Academy Education Teacher (English) at our outstanding training facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering supported learning sessions to players engaged in the hybrid training model, as part of their compensatory education programme, every Tuesday from 08:30am to 4:30pm. In addition, the tutor will provide tailored support to older age-group players who require extra assistance on Tuesdays. Job context We place a great emphasis on providing a well-rounded education both in terms of life and football. This role supports our academy players in balancing their education with the demands of a hybrid training model. This hybrid training model sees players at u12, u13, and u14 ages groups come out of school and engage with our teachers on site, whilst also receiving technical training; strength and conditioning coaching and performance analysis support in what is a high energy and engaging environment for young people. Through the delivery of tailored Math’s sessions, the tutor helps players maintain academic progress and ensures they are supported both in their studies and future development. Main duties DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Substantial experience teaching English at KS3 and GCSE Levels. REQUIRED BEHAVIORAL ATTRIBUTES · Organised, efficient, and detail-focused · Communicates clearly and appropriately for different audiences · Builds positive relationships with students, staff, and stakeholders · Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills · Confident using modern technologies to support learning · Inspires others and acts as a positive role model · Personable and approachable, able to connect with others easily · Committed to the Academy’s vision, values, and high standards · Professional under public/media scrutiny and pressure · Responsible, open-minded, and innovative in their approach · Resilient, proactive, and solutions-focused when facing challenges · Collaborative team player, willing to share knowledge and support others · Inclusive and adaptable, working effectively across diverse groups · Dedicated to personal growth and continuous improvement · Hard-working, motivated, and able to promote the Academy positively KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide subject specific tuition to players Update registers and logs of work as requested Provide written feedback for education reports Provide feedback to Academy staff on progress, attendance and attitude to learning as needed Liaise with parents/schools as needed Provide appropriate resources for effective learning as needed Person Specification Criteria Essential Qualifications BEd, BA, or BSc degree or equivalent A postgraduate degree in Education or relevant subject QTS/QTLS teaching qualification. 2 years teaching experience EWC Registration Knowledge & Experience Teaching experience in secondary education or equivalent. Experience of delivering to young people with professional football aspirations. Knowledge of the ESTYN / OFSTED inspection framework including safeguarding and well-being provisions and thresholds. Skills & Abilities Excellent inter-personal skills Excellent planning and organisational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
