Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown Discipline: RN Start Date: 12/01/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Opportunity: RN - Stepdown Job Details: • Work with post-operative cardiac and vascular surgery patients aged 17-24 hours post-op • Care for patients with coronary artery bypass, mitral/aortic valve replacements, carotid endarterectomies, femoral artery repairs & stents, and other cardiovascular surgeries • Maintain 4:1 patient ratio for days, nights, and weekends • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required • Must have post cardiac surgery and vascular surgery experience • Strong cardiac telemetry experience required • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS • Must have 1 year minimum experience with EPIC EMR • Flu vaccine required with no exemptions • 24-hour orientation provided • Weekend coverage required • Self-scheduling system • Float to cardiac telemetry and other units as deemed appropriate • Skills include blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care, chest tubes, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care, and wound care • Manage various drips including insulin, amiodarone, cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, and heparin • Coverage from NPs and PAs until 7 PM, then on-call MD coverage • Care for adult and geriatric patient population • Must complete pre-assignment testing and modules within 48 hours of contract signing Facility: This healthcare facility operates a specialized surgical step-down unit focused on post-cardiovascular surgery patient care. The 20-bed unit maintains a daily census of 18 patients and provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and radiology services.
