Parks Assistant/Horticulturalist

About the Role: We’re looking for a Parks & Gardens Assistant with industry experience to maintain the existing site and support further project development. You'll work hands-on with a small, friendly team, supported by the Landscape Manager. Ideal for landscapers or horticulturists passionate about the outdoors, adaptable, and keen to keep learning. Work Schedule: This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM. What You Will Do: • Maintain parks, gardens, and native areas. • Safely apply chemicals for weed and pest control. • Carry out manual tasks such as hand weeding, pruning, plant replacement, and mulching. • Fertilise plants, turf, and paddocks. • Assist with irrigation system maintenance and installation. • Install and maintain turf, plants, and soft landscaping. • Operate small equipment (e.g., bobcat, tractor, excavator). • Maintain native rehabilitation areas and landscaped gardens. • Keep gardens and green spaces free of debris. What You Will Need: • Experience in landscape installation and maintenance. • Ability to perform manual outdoor work. • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, chemical spraying (chemical spray certificate desirable). • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, irrigation repairs and installation. • Ability to operate small machinery (or willingness to learn). • Experience with commercial lawn mowing and landscape maintenance equipment. • Enjoyment of outdoor work and attention to detail. • Strong organisational skills and reliability. • Commitment to safe work practices. • Good communication skills and a team spirit. • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test.
