Pay Information $2,492 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Cerner experience preferred Description: 32 private beds are available on the unit. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4 for telemetry patients and 1:5 for medical-surgical patients. Mixed teams maintain the telemetry ratio of 1:4. Candidates must have certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. Common diagnoses include acute and chronic medical conditions, cardiac telemetry patients, stroke patients, and non-titratable drips. COVID patients and forensic patients are also treated on the unit. Post-operative patients may also be encountered. At least 2 years of nursing experience is required. Cerner experience is preferred. Nurses are not required to titrate drips; only set rate drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin are used. The unit is equipped with GE monitors, and nurses must read and interpret all cardiac rhythms. A house supervisor is present 24/7, with nurse managers available during business hours. There are charge nurses and break nurses assigned to each shift. Certified nursing assistants are present based on census needs. Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP, as ordered; no vents are used. Shifts are scheduled in 12-hour blocks from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Every shift huddle occurs at 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Weekend requirements include 4 shifts over a 4-week schedule, with Friday and Saturday for night shifts and Saturday and Sunday for day shifts. One major holiday and one minor holiday per year are required. There is no mandatory call, but staff may be placed on standby for low census with a 30-minute response time if called in. Travel staff will float first to other units as needed. Background in fast-paced environments with many admissions and high acuity is advantageous. Candidates must uphold evidence-based practices, including bedside shift reports, intentional hourly rounding, and medication education. Strict attendance and punctuality are expected, with any issues compromising patient safety being addressed seriously. Candidate should be comfortable with a strict dress code; navy blue scrubs are required, and undershirts must also be navy, white, or black.
