Job Description

This position is career seasonal in nature and does not provide for year round work. The season is expected to last April through November and the employee may be in non-pay status during the months of December through March. It is expected that project work may decrease non-pay time to 1-2 pay periods, but this can vary due to workload/ funding. Government housing may be available on a temporary or permanent basis. Housing assignments are made through a bid process.

Please visit find a park for additional park information. Established on January 29, 1915, Rocky Mountain National Park is a living showcase of the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains. The park embraces 415 square miles of pristine, uninhabited mountains in north-central Colorado and, as such, is the one of the most spectacular, yet easily accessible high mountain areas in North America. With elevations ranging from 7,800 feet at park headquarters to 14,259 feet at the summit of Longs Peak, the park has glacier-sculptured valleys, rugged gorges, alpine lakes, and vast areas of alpine tundra. Trail Ridge Road, the highest paved continuous road in the United States, stays above tree line for 11 miles and reaches 12,183 feet in elevation. Elk, deer, bighorn sheep, moose, coyotes, and smaller animals are found throughout the park, as well as threatened and endangered species, such as the Greenback Cutthroat Trout and Boreal Toad. The nearest community on the east side of the park is Estes Park, CO. Employees duty stationed in Estes Park, CO will be under the Denver-Aurora-Boulder, CO locality pay table.

Job Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision; operates sewage vacuum trucks up to 53,000 gross vehicle weight rating. Operates engineering equipment such as backhoes, loaders, excavators, dump trucks and forklifts. Performs sewage pumping operations of vault, pit toilets, lines and septic tanks. Maintains clean and orderly equipment, shop and dump stations. Performs water and sewer system monitoring. Operates, maintains and repairs, wastewater collection systems including lift stations, flow meters, bar screens, SCADA monitoring, sewage pumps and pump controls, valves and dosing siphons. Assists in the operation of water treatment systems. (SCREEN OUT) SELECTIVE FACTOR: this position requires a special qualification that has been determined to be essential to perform the job duties. You must possess a current Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement and provide proof of this license with your application. (SCREEN OUT) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic) If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.
