Job Requirements

In order to be qualified for this position, you must possess: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS13 level in the federal service providing advice to senior management on law enforcement, visitor and resource protection, and fire protection; providing leadership and oversight for organizing, planning, directing. coordinating and reviewing all visitor and resource protection programs in a National Park; leading/managing a division or park with a large, complex, interdisciplinary staff; or managing a portfolio of program responsibilities which include providing fire, aviation, and law enforcement services to a National Park Unit. - AND - law enforcement experience, as gained by substantial service in a primary law enforcement officer position in the Federal government or in a similar position outside the federal government - AND - currently hold, or have held within the past 3 years, a full (Type I) NPS Law Enforcement Commission; or be qualified to receive a Type I Commission upon appointment based upon having completed approved NPS training as outlined by policy including: The FLETC Criminal Investigator Training Program, the Natural Resource Police Training (NRPT), Land Management Police Training Program (LMPT), US Park Police Integrated (USPPI), National Park Ranger. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies".
