Job Description

Responsibilities: Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of lodge operations, including guest services, housekeeping, maintenance, and security. Guest Experience: Ensure that guests receive exceptional service throughout their stay, from arrival to departure, and address any concerns or requests promptly and professionally. Conservation Leadership: Develop and implement conservation initiatives to preserve and protect the reserve's natural habitat and wildlife. Staff Management: Recruit, train, and manage a team of staff, including guides, rangers, and hospitality personnel, to deliver high-quality services and experiences. Financial Management: Prepare and manage budgets, control costs, and optimize revenue streams to ensure the financial success of the reserve. Marketing and Promotion: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement strategies to attract guests and promote the reserve's unique offerings. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards to provide a safe environment for guests, staff, and wildlife. Community Engagement: Build positive relationships with local communities and stakeholders, contributing to social development initiatives and promoting responsible tourism practices. Environmental Stewardship: Monitor and assess the environmental impact of reserve activities, implementing sustainable practices and minimizing ecological footprint. Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response protocols, including evacuation procedures and crisis management plans, to ensure the safety and well-being of guests and staff. Requirements: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Business Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management role within a 5-star lodge or luxury hospitality environment. Passion for wildlife conservation and sustainable tourism practices. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with guests, staff, and stakeholders. Proven ability to manage budgets, analyze financial data, and drive revenue growth. Knowledge of South African wildlife, flora, and fauna, with experience in safari guiding preferred. First Aid and Firearm Competency Certificates Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
