Job Title : Chef Cookbook Engineer Experience : 5 to 8 Years Primary Skill : Chef cookbook development Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's/Master's Use Cases Expertise : VM provisioning, OS hardening, CIS compliance for VMware and Bare metal environment Skills : Ruby, VMware basics, Bare metal server and storage provisioning basics Role Description : - We are looking for a seasoned Chef Cookbook Engineer with 5 to 8 years of experience to join our team. - The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Chef cookbook development and extensive experience with use cases like VM provisioning, OS hardening, and ensuring CIS compliance for both VMware and Bare metal environments. - Proficiency in Ruby, along with VMware basics and bare metal server and storage provisioning basics, is essential. - Additionally, the role requires a solid foundation in infrastructure/platform development and hands-on experience with configuration management tools and RESTful APIs. - The candidate should possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a deep understanding of Linux-based infrastructures and : 1. Designing and developing Chef cookbooks to automate the provisioning and configuration of virtual machines (VMs) in both VMware and Bare metal environments. 2. Implementing OS hardening measures and ensuring CIS compliance across various infrastructure components. 3. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define use cases, and design effective automation solutions. 4. Leveraging Ruby scripting to customize Chef recipes and resources according to specific project requirements. 5. Providing expertise in VMware basics and bare metal server and storage provisioning to optimize infrastructure performance. 6. Integrating Chef automation with other tools and technologies to streamline deployment processes and enhance system scalability. 7. Troubleshooting issues related to configuration management and automation workflows, and providing timely resolutions. 8. Participating in code reviews, performance tuning, and optimization efforts to improve the reliability and efficiency of automation solutions. 9. Keeping abreast of industry trends and best practices in configuration management and infrastructure automation. 10. Documenting Chef cookbooks, configurations, and automation workflows to ensure knowledge transfer and maintain system documentation. 11. Mentoring junior team members and providing technical guidance on Chef cookbook development best practices. Required Skills : 1. 5 to 8 years of experience in Chef cookbook development and infrastructure automation. 2. Proficiency in Ruby scripting for customizing Chef recipes and resources. 3. Strong understanding of VMware basics and bare metal server and storage provisioning. 4. Hands-on experience with configuration management tools and RESTful APIs. 5. Deep knowledge of Linux-based infrastructures and system administration. 6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. 7. Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team. 8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 9. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is a plus. 10.
